WHO ARE WE
Underwing was formed at the beginning of 2016 on the southern coast of Norway. Their vision was clear from the outset: creating a unique, honest musical expression.
By merging the groovy rhythms found in 70’s rock, the melancholic atmosphere of 90’s grunge and the sonic complexity of modern progressive metal, Underwing’s soundscape can best be described as progressive grunge.
Accompanying the music are lyrics that deal with a number of subjects such as mental health in today’s materialistic society, life, death, all draped in an overarching theme of existentialism.
The quartet released their debut effort, “Kaela Upsweep”, on Indie label Pinecone Records on May 20, 2017, which quickly garnered critical acclaim both nationally and internationally. The music featured on their debut has been compared to legendary acts such as Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath and Tool.
