On The Road (Part 5); Onkel Aksel, Kristiansand
All right guys & gals!
Last blog-post of 2016, from the last gig of 2016! 😀
Still recovering from our great adventure at Arendal Rock Klubb’s Julejam, we set sail for Kristiansand once more to jam with our good friends in Leafy at Onkel Aksel!
We boarded our tour bus (Linje 100) around 6pm and had an interesting conversation about lucid dreaming, confirmation bias and other stuff.
After putting a lot of effort into these subjects, we were suddenly in Kristiansand and it felt like just 10 minutes since we left Grimstad. Never underestimate a great topic, I guess 😉
We arrived in Kristiansand, and luckily for us (and Thomas’ arms) the venue was just barely a minute walk from the bus station!
Entering Onkel Aksel with our introspective swagger, we were greeted with hugs and lolz from the Leafy-guys 🙂 I love these people, very genuine individuals and musicians! Leafy just released their debut-album on More Fuzz Records and you can buy it right HERE 😉 These songs have really grown on me over time, I’ve been on my fair share of Leafy gigs the past couple of years! Fun fact; Enyeto used to play bass in Leafy and it’s his work you’ll hear on the album, which is just one more reason to buy it! 😉 Do it! NOW!
We had a beer and sat down discussing guitars, Final Fantasy XV amongst other things before it was time for Leafy soundcheck 🙂
After testing some sound, I draw the shortest straw and had to be the one to order pizza (actually it was just because I was the only one who had a phone). I was on the phone with the pizza-lady for about 15 minutes because I couldn’t decide whether it was going to be paid for with cash or credit. I didn’t know, because we weren’t going to pay for it. Onkel Aksel was 🙂 It all magically worked out when I unplugged my finger from my butt and just asked the staff, haha!
Leafy was done, and it was time for us to check our sound.
We didn’t have time for much, obviously, so we just played through a couple of songs and called it. For the first time I was using another amp than my own, and I definitely won’t do that again because the feedback that came out of this amp was so immense that it could have killed an alien 😉 Live and learn, I guess!
It was pizza time, so we found the backstage area and ate ourselves full 🙂
After that we mingled around the venue, talking to people whilst drinking beer and just waiting actually. We had some sort of backstage party going on incognito-style during this time as well 😉
It was time to hit the stage, so we did. The sound had changed since soundcheck, but we’re entertainers so we went on with our show anyway 😀 It was great fun, and the response from the crowd was great! There was one guy in the front who looked like he could be a fan of my former band Valerie 😉 Long blonde hair and a really rock n roll attitude, he looked like David Coverdale which was pretty rad, haha! 😉 He gave me such a warm and genuine response after the show, you can’t help but just love these individuals <3
We’re awaiting pictures from the show, so I don’t really have much to show you other than this picture of myself which I found on Snapchat;
After our show, it was time for Leafy to kick some ass!
They did really great, even better than the last time I saw them! 🙂
Last time was at Vaktua, Kristiansand and I think it was their first gig with new bassist Marcus. You could tell they had been practising, because it all sounded much more polished this time around. Well, as polished as you can get it without ruining their dirty stoner-rock sound 😉
After their show we headed back to Josh’s apartment for an afterparty that would last into the early hours next day 😉 Me, Thomas & Enyeto were supposed to sleep over, but we discovered that the clock had hit 7AM and the buses were up and going again, so we just decided to take the bus home so that we could sleep in the comfort of our own beds. Good call, I’d say <3
Here are some pictures from the afterparty, we had a great time!
We’re looking forward to more crazy adventures in 2017!
Happy New Year to all of you, and thanks for sticking by our side <3 We love you.
