On The Road (Part 6); Onkel Aksel, Kristiansand /w Kal-El
Hello everyone, and a happy new year! 😀
I hope everyone’s 2017 is going great so far, and that you all had a pleasant celebration kicking off the new year!
My resolution for this year is basically just to continue in the same flow of productivity and self-improvement that I’ve been doing last year. People always tend to get ahead of themselves with new years resolutions making expectations so high that it’s unrealistic to even do them, but I think that if you just allow yourself to make some mistakes along the way while you’re reaching for your goals, it’ll all work out in the end 🙂
..Now, that concludes my rant so far. Let’s get on with the good stuff!
This weekend, we shared the stage with our buddies in Kal-El! And if you haven’t checked them out, I suggest you click HERE to access their Spotify and take a good listen to some of the best hard rock/heavy metal to come out of the Norwegian underground scene in a while! 😉
Here’s what Kal-El tells about themselves in their Facebook-bio;
“Kal-El is the fuzzed-out step-child of hard rock and heavy metal, often with hints of pyschedelic and blues rock as well as doom metal. Songs typically feature a bass-heavy groove, detuned guitars and mind-expanding lyrics…”
I was lucky enough to catch a fever /w a cold when I got home from band-practice on Thursday, so my overall energy-levels were a little depleted to say the least. I’ve been living on paracetamol & Joylent-shakes for the last 4 days, haha.
Enyeto captured a moment describing very vividly how I felt about having to leave the house with my comfortable blanket and Final Fantasy XV 😉
..But since we’re all friends here, it didn’t take too long to cheer me up 😀
We arrived in Kristiansand with our tour bus (you got it, Linje 100) and carried our equipment to the venue, sat down to catch our breath for a few minutes and then we decided to head out to the closest grocery store to buy some essentials 😉
I bought garlic, lemon & bottled water to cure my sickness and it actually gave me some temporary relief (especially the garlic) 😀
Eagerly waiting for Kal-El to arrive, we did a lot of silly photos like this one;
When Kal-El arrived, we helped them carry their equipment to the venue & was shortly after that served a fantastic dinner from the chefs at Onkel Aksel. I think it was some kind of beef with a variety of vegetables & friend potatoes 🙂 It was delicious, and very highly appreciated by both bands.
A few slices of garlic later it was time for us to hit the stage. I just have to credit the sound guy Endre for amazing environment to work in, thanks a lot for your professionalism and great sound both onstage and in front of the stage 🙂
Here’s a picture that Liz from Kal-El shot while we were performing;
The response from the crowd was great, and despite being sick it went really well 😀 It’s like the adrenaline from the crowd really helped on that one, so thanks to everyone who came out! We’ll be back soon!
By the way, we’ve created a little playlist on our Spotify connected to this blog where we’ll add the music of the artists that we’ve been so lucky to play alongside with. Please check it out, as there are (and will be) many great artists featured on that playlist 😉
We’re taking a little break from touring now, as we have a LOT to do focusing on the release of our EP “Kaela Upsweep”, but know that we’ll be back very soon to hang out with you guys again! 😉
A lot of further announcements regarding the EP will be made asap, so be sure to follow us on Facebook for the latest updates!
Till next time! 🙂
